Yitzhak Rabin was born in Jerusalem and studied at the Kaduri Agricultural School. He began his military service in pre-State Israel as a member of the elite Palmach. At the height of his military career Rabin served as IDF Chief of Staff during the Six-Day War. In his last term as prime minister, Rabin signed a peace treaty with the Kingdom of Jordan and worked to advance peace with the Palestinians on the basis of the Oslo Accords for which he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Yitzhak Rabin was murdered by a Jewish assassin on November 4, 1995.
