After Passover, the Israel Airports Authority (IAA) will begin piloting an independent security inspection system for domestic flights in place of the security checkers at Ben-Gurion Airport.
Upon registration, the passenger will be issued a personal pass that includes biometric data of the card holder through which he will undergo a self-check procedure. From there, he will be transferred directly to flight registration and check-in.
The new service will make it easier for passengers traveling regularly to and from Eilat for work, business or medical treatment, avoiding unnecessary delays at the new Ramon airport near Eilat that will be inaugurated in a few months. Each year, over 1.5 million passengers pass through the various domestic airports.
Minister of Transport and Road Safety Yisrael Katz, maintains that the new service will enable an independent, convenient, short and efficient transition while maintaining a high level of security.
