President Reuven Rivlin this afternoon (Sunday) paid a condolence visit to the family of 13 year old, Hallel Yaffa Ariel, who was murdered in a terror attack as she slept in her home in Kiryat Arba on Thursday, 30 June 2016.
Hallel Yaffa's mother, Rina, told the President about her daughter, and showed the President her bedroom where she was murdered. "My daughter was a ray of light, a girl made entirely of light," she told the President and added, "I know that before you are a President, you are a father and a grandfather. The pain is so great, we have lost our ray of light."
The President was accompanied by the regional council head, Malachi Levinger, and Minister of Agriculture Uri Ariel MK, who was related to the bereaved family. Together with them, the President listened to Rina and said, "From just one look at the pictures of her beaming face, one can understand what a beautiful soul has been lost."
Amichai, Hallel Yaffa's father, told the President of the attack, and the struggle to overpower the terrorist. He introduced him to the members of community's security patrol who helped save his life. The President shook their hands and thanked them for their bravery. "We are in a battle against evil," said the President, "there is no doubt that we will overcome. This is the land of our forefathers and Hebron is the city of our forefathers. We will fight against evil, we will fight against injustice; those who want to live with us in peace, will live with us in peace."
