President Rivlin’s schedule for week beginning Sunday, 18 September 2016 / 15 Elul 5776

Sunday, 18 September 

18:30 – President Rivlin will award the Presidential Award for Educating Cooperation at a special education conference held at the President’s Residence as part of the “Israeli Hope in Education” initiative (part of the wider ‘Israeli Hope’ initiatives run by the President’s Office. The conference will be attended by hundreds of school principals and teachers from across Israel, and across the different sectors and communities, participating in the initiative. The award will be presented to three schools from three different communities in recognition of their work in educating toward cooperation and partnership in Israeli society. A further award will be given to the school which had most improved in the subject in the past year. Also addressing the event will be Education Minister Naftali Bennett.

19:30 – President & First Lady Rivlin will join the wife of the IDF Chief of Staff Chanah Eizenkott at a festive reception in honor of the upcoming Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah) for hundreds of IDF lone soldiers. During the event, four lone soldiers will tell their personal stories. The event will be held at ‘Beit HaChayal’ in Jerusalem, and will be open to the media. Monday, 19 September 

12:00 - President & First Lady Rivlin will meet senior female officers from across the Israeli military and security forces. Coverage details to follow. 

 

18:00 – President Rivlin will host at his residence an event honoring ten years of cooperation between the IDF and ‘Ezer Mizion’, which maintains the world's largest Jewish bone marrow donor registry. The event will be open to the media (GPO card holders only). Tuesday, 20 September 

10:15 – President Rivlin will host an event at his residence to mark the new academic year of the Na’ale organization (for Jewish children from around the world who come to live in Israel, and study in Israeli schools without their parents). The event will be open to the media (GPO card holders only). 12:15 – President Rivlin will meet at his residence with Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (Speaker of Parliament) Mr. Zhang Dejiang. Official coverage only. 

 

17:30 – President Rivlin will host at his residence an event marking 50 years since the establishment of the Jerusalem Foundation, with the participation of families of the organization’s founders, and senior figures and leadership of the Foundation. The event will be open to the media (GPO card holders only). Wednesday, 21 September 

20:00 – President Rivlin will participate in the inauguration of the artificial lake in the Ben Gurion Park, Dimona. Coverage details to follow. 

 

Thursday, 22 September  

10:00 – President Rivlin will receive from State Comptroller Yosef Shapira, a special report into the issue of educating cooperation and partnership and prevention of racism. The event will be open to the media (GPO holders only).
