President Rivlin’s schedule for week beginning Sunday, 24 July 2016 / 18 Tammuz 5776

Monday, 25 July 

12:30 – President Rivlin will meet at his residence with President of ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States), Marcel Alain De Souza. Photo-op at the beginning of the meeting will be open to the media (GPO card holders only). 17:00 - President & First Lady Rivlin will host at the President’s Residence a Bible study session together with the ‘929 Initiative’, which promotes regular Torah study with a focus of social issues.  The session will be focused on the writings of the Prophet Jeremiah and the tension between his role as a prophet and a leader. Speaking at the event will be President Rivlin, Rabbi Beni Lau, author Amos Oz, and other renowned figures. The event will be open to the media (GPO card holders only).  Media arrival no later than 16:15. Tuesday, 26 July 

17:00 – President Rivlin will lay a wreath and address the memorial ceremony on Mt. Herzl for those who fell in Operation Protective Edge, marking two years since the operation. Also attending will be Prime Minister Netanyahu and members of the bereaved families. Open media coverage; details to be issued separately.

 

18:30 – President Rivlin will lay a wreath and address the memorial ceremony on Mt. Herzl marking 112 years since the death of Theodore Herzl. Also attending will be Prime Minister Netanyahu, members of the Herzl family, and other senior Israeli figures. Open media coverage; details to be issued separately.  

 

Thursday, 28 July 

11:00 – President Rivlin will address the swearing in ceremony of 16 new judges and registrars. The new judges include 4 District Court judges, and 10 judges and 2 registrars to sit in the Hashalom Court. Also speaking at the ceremony will be Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked MK and President of the Supreme Court Justice Miriam Naor.  The event will be open to the media (GPO card holders only). 19:30 – President Rivlin will address the Egyptian National Day Reception. Also speaking will be the Egyptian Ambassador to Israel. The reception will be held at the Egyptian Ambassador’s residence in Herzliya Pituach. Journalists interested in attending must coordinate with Heba at 054-617-7351.
