Sunday, 7 August

10:00 – President Rivlin will recognize at a meeting at his residence the recipients of the award for excellence in Civilian National Service (Shirut Leumi-Ezrachi) 2016. Also speaking at the event will be Agriculture Minister Uri Ariel who holds the portfolio of responsibility for the Shirut Leumi program. The event will be open to the media (GPO card holders only). Tuesday, 9 August

11:00 – President Rivlin will address the swearing in ceremony of 14 new judges. The new judges include 6 District Court judges, 7 Hashalom Court judges, and 1 Labor Court judge. Also speaking at the ceremony will be Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked and President of the Supreme Court Justice Miriam Naor.  The event will be open to the media (GPO card holders only). Wednesday, 10 August

10:00 – President Rivlin will hold a working meeting with President of Togo Faure Gnassingbé who will be visiting Israel. The beginning of the meeting will be open to the media (GPO holders only). Media arrival no later than 09:15. Please RSVP with Jason@president.gov.il.

 

12:15-15:00 – President Rivlin will award the Shield of Honor, a project of the President’s Office in partnership with the Football League, Football Association, Toto (Football Pools), the Association for the Prevention of Violence in Sport, and the Ministry of Sport and Culture. The Shield of Honor is awarded to the Israeli Premier League clubs which have done the most to fight violence and racism, and has excelled in social projects. The competition, which is in now in its second year, is aimed at strengthening and offering support to clubs to expand their communal and social projects, to help combat violence and racism, and promote cooperation between the clubs across the country.

 

  • 12:15 – President Rivlin will meet with representatives of the Premier League clubs. (Photo-op only)
  • 13:00 – The award ceremony will begin. Speakers will include; President Rivlin, Minister for Sport & Culture Miri Regev, as well as representatives of the winning clubs and members of the selection committee. (Open coverage)
  • 14:10 – Photo-op with the teams competing for the Israeli Supercup (Maccabi Haifa & Hapoel Be’er Sheva). (Open coverage)

Thursday, 11 August

12:30 – President Rivlin will hold for the second year in the run up to the Fast of the Ninth of Av, a study session with leaders from the different streams of Judaism, held in partnership with the Jewish People Policy Institute (JPPI). Speaking at the event will be President Rivlin, Jewish Agency Chairman Natan Sharansky, and Israel Prize recipient Dr. Eliezer Schweid. The event will be open to the media (GPO card holders only).
