17:30 - President & First Lady Rivlin will host at the President’s Residence a Bible study session together with the ‘929 Initiative’, which promotes regular Torah study with a focus on social issues. The session will be focused on the writings of the Prophet Ezekiel and include issues relating to Yom Kippur and the High Holidays. Speaking at the event will be President Rivlin, Rabbi Benny Lau, Rabbi Adin Steinzaltz, Rabbi Tamar Elad Appelbaum, and author Haim Be’er. The event will be open to the media (GPO card holders only). Monday, 10 October
22:30 – President Rivlin will host for the third year a ‘Selichot’ service in the Synagogue at the President’s Residence, led by singer Chaim Israel. ‘Selichot’ is a prayer service held late at night or early in the morning throughout the High Holiday period. This will be the last service before Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, which will commence on Tuesday evening. The service will be attended by the regular congregants of the daily services held at the synagogue, as well as members of the President’s Office staff. Thursday, 15 October
10:00 – President Rivlin will be joined by schoolchildren from Jerusalem to decorate the President’s Residence Sukkah for the upcoming festival. On the third day of the Sukkoth festival, the President opens his Sukkah to the public, and welcomes thousands of Israelis. The event will be open to the media (GPO card holders only). 11:00 – President Rivlin will lay a wreath and deliver an address the memorial ceremony for those who fell in the Yom Kippur War (1973). Also participating in the ceremony will be Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman, IDF Chief-of-Staff Lt.-Gen. Gadi Eizenkot, other senior military figures, and members of bereaved families. The ceremony will take place on Mt. Herzl and will be open to the media. Journalists must coordinate in advance with the Defense Ministry Spokesperson at 03-6975339.
12:00 – President Rivlin will address a conference in partnership with the MAOZ Network entitled ‘The role of the state in the ‘New Agenda for Israel’ during which participants will discuss the work of the MAOZ network in light of the President’s ‘Four Tribes Speech’. MAOZ is a network of change-making leaders, working together and striving to advance the socio-economic resilience of the State of Israel. The event will be open to the media (GPO card holders only). 18:00 – President Rivlin will address a Bar/Bat Mitzvah celebration for 33 children who have lost parents in the defense of the State of Israel.
